The heartbeat of our community
my dad, mr. pete, opened his first corner store in the trinidad neighborhood in the 1970s. montello market’s shelves were stocked with products requested by residents so wouldn’t have to leave the community for their essentials. after 26 years of being the heartbeat of the neighborhood, montello market closed.
2 decades later, the legacy continues through me, Chrissy.
Pop’s market is a love letter to dc corner store culture—The heartbeats of their communities. & a love letter to my dad—The Man, the myth, the legend.
